The HSE launched its Intranet site on November 15th, and while much of the content remains to be added, and many links activated, two valuable links are fully functional – the Press Cuttings service, which is a fully seachable database of all articles that have a ny relevance for the HSE, warts and all; and the link to the library and information service.. This latter brings you a page which asks that the user requests an account in order to access the ATHENS electonic library. Once the account is created, a user name and password is sent by email.
The image below is a screen shot of the main index of books and journals – each link brings you to a more comprehensive list. I checked out the journals, and found the only dental journal was that of the Canadian Dental Association = L'Association Dentaire Canadienne – which of course is freely available by logging on to its website. There is no mention of the British Dental Journal, or that of the American Dental Association that I could see. Perhaps the HSE can be encouraged to subscribe to these essential journals for the dental community, not the mention Community Dental Health etc.
